FreeAgent
Automatically create bills in FreeAgent with Tailride.
Overview
Tailride creates bills in FreeAgent automatically — with spending categories, tax rates detected from the invoice, and the original document attached.
Prerequisites
- An active FreeAgent account
- A Tailride business account
Setting Up the Integration
In Tailride, open the Integrations tab and click Connect on the FreeAgent card — this triggers the FreeAgent authentication flow
Sign in and grant the requested permissions
After connecting, the setup dialog opens: sync your categories, optionally import coding history, and configure automatic export. See Accounting Software for the full setup flow.
Export Settings
- Default expense category — the FreeAgent spending category used for uncoded or adjustment lines (coded lines keep their own categories)
How Export Works
Each invoice becomes a FreeAgent bill with category-coded lines and a tax rate mapped from the VAT extracted from the invoice; the original PDF is attached. Amounts in unsupported currencies can be converted to your base currency automatically (optional).
Exports run automatically when auto-export is enabled, or manually via the invoice actions menu — the manual dialog offers an Expense category picker and a Tax rate selector with Auto-detect from invoice and Exempt options, plus a button to refresh categories from FreeAgent.
Limitations
- We can't modify or delete existing FreeAgent data
- Already-exported invoices are skipped (a single invoice can be re-uploaded explicitly)
