Install
Install Tailride Desktop on macOS or Windows, including the Windows portable build.
The download links below always point at the latest release. Older builds are on GitHub Releases.
macOS
One universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Download Tailride for macOS (.dmg).
Open the image and drag Tailride into Applications.
Open Tailride. It appears in the menu bar and opens the sign-in flow in your browser (see Sign in).
“Tailride cannot be opened because Apple cannot verify it”
Gatekeeper shows this on the first launch of some builds. Right-click Tailride.app in Applications, choose Open, then click Open in the dialog — or allow it under System Settings → Privacy & Security. This is needed once.
Windows — installer
Download Tailride-Setup-x.y.z.exe.
Run it. The installer is per user and needs no administrator rights. If SmartScreen appears, click More info, then Run anyway.
Tailride starts in the system tray and opens the sign-in flow in your browser.
Windows — portable
Tailride-x.y.z-x64.exe runs without installation.
- Everything — settings, sessions, the encrypted vault — is kept in a
Tailride Datafolder next to the.exe, not in%APPDATA%. - It never downloads or installs updates on its own; Check for updates only looks and offers the release page.
- The vault and the browser sessions are encrypted with your Windows user key, so the folder is portable between paths on one account, not between machines.
- Start at login points Windows at the file's current location; keep the
.exewhere it is.
To move the data folder for any build, start the app with --user-data-dir=<path>.
Requirements
- macOS on Apple Silicon or Intel, or Windows 10 / 11 64-bit.
- A Tailride account. The app is free; it uses your account's credits.
- For Proton Mail: Proton Mail Bridge and a paid Proton plan.
