API

Connect automation platforms and scripts to Tailride with API keys.

Overview

The Tailride API lets automation platforms — such as the Tailride apps for Make and Zapier — and your own scripts search your invoices and subscribe to invoice events.

  • Base URL: https://tailride.so/api/v1
  • Requests and responses use JSON.

Availability

The API is available on paid plans for business accounts. API keys are created by the root user of the account.

API Keys

You manage API keys in the API keys block at the bottom of Settings → Webhooks.

  • Create — enter a name (e.g. "Make") and click Create API key. The key starts with trapi_ and is shown only once, so copy it right away. If you lose it, revoke it and create a new one.
  • Review — each key shows its name, last four characters, creation date, and when it was last used.
  • Revoke — the key stops working immediately, and the webhooks a platform subscribed with it are removed.

You can have up to 10 API keys. Anyone with a key can read your invoices and manage platform webhooks for your account, so keep keys secret and revoke any you no longer use.

Authentication

Send the key with every request, in either header:

X-Api-Key: trapi_...
Authorization: Bearer trapi_...

Errors

Errors return a JSON body with a message and an HTTP status code:

{ "error": "Invalid or missing API key" }
StatusMeaning
400Invalid request parameters
401The API key is missing, invalid, or revoked
403The account is not a business account, or the endpoint requires a paid plan
500Something went wrong on our side — retry later

Get the Current Account

GET /api/v1/me

Returns the account the API key belongs to. Use it to check that a key works.

{
  "id": "66a1f0c2e4b09a35d8f11a40",
  "email": "office@yourcompany.com",
  "name": "Your Company Ltd"
}

Search Invoices

GET /api/v1/invoices?search=acme&limit=20&page=1

Searches processed invoices, newest invoice date first. This is the same search as the search box in your invoice list: it matches the invoice number, vendor, sender, email subject, notes, line items, and amount.

ParameterDescription
searchOptional search text (up to 200 characters). Without it, the newest invoices are returned.
limitInvoices per page, 1–100. Default 20.
pagePage number, starting at 1. Default 1.
{
  "invoices": [
    { "id": "66a1f0c2e4b09a35d8f11a42", "invoiceId": "INV-2041", "amount": 129.9, "currency": "EUR", "…": "…" }
  ],
  "page": 1,
  "limit": 20,
  "total": 57,
  "totalPages": 3
}

Each invoice has the same fields as data.invoice in the webhook payload. File download links in search results are valid for 1 hour (see expiresAt).

Subscribe a Webhook

POST /api/v1/webhooks

Used by automation platforms to register their webhook URL for an invoice event. Supported platforms: make (webhook URLs on hook.<region>.make.com) and zapier (webhook URLs on hooks.zapier.com). To send events to your own endpoint, add a webhook in Settings → Webhooks instead.

{
  "url": "https://hook.eu1.make.com/abc123",
  "event": "invoice.processed",
  "source": "make"
}
FieldDescription
urlThe platform's webhook URL (HTTPS).
eventinvoice.processed (default) or invoice.updated — see Events.
sourceThe platform, e.g. make.

Returns 201 with the new webhook, or 200 with the existing one when the same URL is already subscribed to the same event:

{ "id": "66b0c1d2e3f4a5b6c7d8e9f0", "event": "invoice.processed", "url": "https://hook.eu1.make.com/abc123" }

Deliveries use the same payload, retries, and signature as dashboard webhooks. Subscribed webhooks appear in Settings → Webhooks with the platform's badge; the platform sets their URL, so they cannot be edited there, but you can pause or delete them. Up to 50 platform webhooks per account; they do not count toward the limit of 10 dashboard webhooks.

Unsubscribe a Webhook

DELETE /api/v1/webhooks/{id}

Removes a webhook created with POST /api/v1/webhooks. Webhooks added in the dashboard cannot be removed through the API. The call succeeds even if the webhook is already gone:

{ "success": true }

Tailride also removes a platform webhook on its own when the platform reports that the webhook URL no longer exists (HTTP 410 Gone).
